Looking for an automatic car will most likely make your reservation more expensive, the cheapest I could find was for around 1000€.

The one-way fee for returning in San Remo is 96€, vs. returning in Nice which is 811€, so if you want to still drive around in France, you could return the car in San Remo, take a train to Nice and rent another car there.
