I would also find this to be very annoying and inappropriate, especially on a night flight. Passengers are trying to sleep and this is not important information. I can see announcing a Super Bowl winner perhaps, but that's about it. Certainly not score updates. I would complain as well.

I don't think this falls into the Random and Pathetic thread because this is a very legitimate complaint.
