It was indeed the example I was looking for.
I refer you to post #s 399, 400, 402, 403, 404, 406, 407 and 709.
Initially there was an example of someone (
tboons) trying to fly QR CAI-DOH; instead they paid for their own ticket RJ CAI-AMM to connect with a QR AMM-DOH flight.
Through the incredibly helpful contributions of fellow FTers I have been able to gain an improved understanding - before I contact QR directly - of what QR may/may not offer others in similar situations (in the case of myself, my wife and my son - QR ex-CAI tickets).
If there was any reference to a 'change of origin' in my earlier posts it was only in the context of what the contemporaneous situation appeared to be; i.e. get yourself from CAI to AMM and QR will assume the responsibility of flying you onwards from there.
QR27's feedback (post # 723) leads me to believe that QR will also assume the responsibility of re-routing my wife and son's CAI-DOH-HKG itinerary to CAI-AMM-DOH-HKG, and my own CAI-DOH-MNL itinerary to CAI-AMM-DOH-MNL: no change of origin or destination there.
