FWIW, I emailed Sean Bentel (VP of Customer and Relations at American Airlines) back in late May regarding the issue with AA system and LATAM elite status. My email was forwarded to and was responded by [email protected] within a day apologizing for the issue and promised that someone will be in touch with me shortly. However, a few days later, I received an email from [email protected] saying:

We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced with your Oneworld status. Currently we are unable to process status updates for Latam Elite members. Please show your elite card at the airport to receive your One World Sapphire benefits. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
which does not make any senses to me because I already explained in my email that LATAM phased-out all the physical membership card and that if AA system does not recognize it, the digital card will be meaningless. I emailed them back explain this point and have never heard back from them ever since.

If the issue is fixed because of my complaint, you're welcome! lol Nevertheless, many thanks to krzysz for letting me know that the issue is already fixed.
