OP, you very generously gave them a wonderful trip to Europe. Now they are learning to cope with the uncertainties of travel and make the most of whatever happens. They are grown ups. They will make the JFK connection or they won't and Delta will rebook them. They will deal with it and have great stories to tell about their adventures.
