I flew CHS-EWR-HKG-SIN and not a single person ever once asked for my passport

I checked in with a known passport in the United system and not even the transfer desk in HKG asked for it.

It was in my passport pouch the entire time and that pouch never left my backpack until I went down the escalator to clear immigration in SIN
