Any reason not to play it safe? The extra money you pay to fly another carrier is insurance for a "guaranteed" flight. Unlike a store going out of business, where everyone starts going in when they have the store closing sale, with an airline, they stop they stop the flights and there is no idea who will honor already booked reservation.
