It always pays on short connections to sit as forward in the cabin as possible. The difference between first off and last off the bird can be ~10 minutes, and first off should be first to security screening (if necessary). I have been on trips with colleagues where the people in front of the cabin made the connection and the people in the back didn't.

And don't dawdle; move between flights with purpose. As always YMMV.
