Meeting Amex spend

Hi,
I took a typical offer for American Express Premium Gold card, spend $2000 within 3 months. Since I heard they are being tough on many aspects, I went through the terms in detail. Below is an excerpt of the terms:

Purchases to meet the spend
requirement of this offer include those made by both the Basic and Additional Card Members on the Card
Account. Purchases to meet the spend requirement of this offer do NOT include fees or interest charges,
balance transfers, cash advances, purchase of travelers checks, purchase or reloading of prepaid cards, or
other cash equivalents.

So, how would they go about detecting if the purchase is of a gift card/prepaid card or a cash equivalent? Any insight on this to get around the current/possible methodology in place?
I have another card to meet the spend offer for, with my daily expenses. So..

Any insightful reply would be very helpful as this, am afraid, would be the trend for other cards going forward.

Thanks Guys
