Yes, they do in the eyes of many of their customers especially those who usually fly on US airlines. I think it is more an indication of what United, Delta and American can get away with calling First and that most passengers don't know the AC lingo.
Oh god, we are at the point where AC can learn how to improve the customer experience and effective airline operation from SA. AC has a lot of work to do.
