I haven't heard of anyone with experience with united bags, so this is great option to have in the arsenal.
IRROPPs is my biggest fear. Last year, I was flying from MSY to EWR from a convention and we were diverted due to weather to Richmond. Once we landed and everyone switched their phones on, I heard the mom behind me lose it bc while we were in the air, her daughter got very sick, had to call 911 herself, and was en route to an ER in an ambulance, in pain and alone.
we were told there were NO flts to ewr left that day in richmond. Not true. They HELD the last RJ and jammed the GSs (and maybe a few more lucky souls) onboard. I frantically searched for the lady bc she NEEDED to be on that flt, in my seat even if necessary, but an FA finally figured she booked to car rental, deciding to just drive home. ugh. like I said. shaking.
