Firstly my apologies, I meant "odd". Will edit my own post.
I thought many/most airports didn't even offer the ability to purchase tickets in person now? I didn't really research it, but assumed in most cases people had done it on their phone.
Regardless however, it does make me wonder what sort of error he was having doing it online. That said, having an issue booking it online may not have been able anything to do with his card and more the fact that the AC website and app often make it hard to do or buy anything.
