This is rather obvious. If you can demonstrate LH that you will bring them good money, they will match you. I suspect the definition of "good money" is probably in the 100k€/year ballpark, but of course I don't know.

Asking a status match on the grounds of "I have TK*G can you make me SEN please" is clearly not going to work, but I'm sure we both agree that would be silly on LH part.

In addition if the other programmes (A3 and TK) are so much better, I am wondering why people are willing to move to such an inferior programme (LH).
I'm not sure anyone ever said they are better, let alone "so much better". They are cheap to maintain, but other than that they are much more limited than M&M.
I personally want to keep status and I am not particularly bothered with awards. So in that sense A3 an TK work better for me because (i) I don't fly enough to keep SEN, and (ii) *G is *G is *G. I enjoyed SENdom (e.g. companion awards, F awards, and AVIS and Hertz matches), but I'm not fussed.

However if you are interested in redeeming the miles you fly, M&M is vastly superior (not cheap of course).

In addition who tells you that a person putting all flights on an A3 account is only flying intra-European?
I said "a person flying A3", so it's a bit of a tautology. But you will agree that in general people choose the program of their home airline, so most A3 customers are probably greeks flying domestically or in EU. TK's reach is probably wider.
