Oops sorry yea Japan airlines and no codeshares. I am not a member of any right now I've only just started getting into this stuff this year so I'm very much a rookie. Thanks for the link!
Wow China eastern and malayasia airlines have 50% rate compared to 30 by American and Alaskan, even more than the 30 JAL gives for their own flight. I'll look more into it but I assume the extra miles doesn't quite make up for the possibility of those points becoming stranded...
