Just an FYI, amex assurance company does not cover drones, such as the DJI Mavic Pro or phantoms. I was denied my claim, as they stated it is an Aircraft and is under the FAA.
I think it's dishonest, and I'm really disappointed, I will be cancelling my platinum and keeping my prestige given this--the platinum I loved for it's ability to cover my purchases, but other cards now have better coverage.
In my opinion the drone is a piece of photographic equipment, but such is life.
Posting this in case anyone in the future is looking at purchasing a drone they'll have this data point.
What type of Amex protection were you looking for? Did it crash and you want Amex to pay for the repair?
As an FAA certified sUAS operator I can back up the statement that drones are aircraft. I own an aerial photography company and we do have to comply with airspace restrictions, etc.
