SFO-ICN Polaris First

greetings

I was on 893 in Polar First, 1K. Found the purser and 2 working up front to be fun and professional. Food was quite good, though hot food temp could have been hotter all around.

Enjoyed Champagne, fruit, cheese and salami and smoked salmon in GF lounge. Biggest complaint: No bottled water as delivery hadnt come in. I know F&B is outsourced but how hard to go either to the UA Club or any newsstand and just buy some. Very disappointed for something that can be easily procured on the spot from many sources just a short ride up an elevator

PDB with chocolate, Bloody Mary request handled with no problem. I was hoping for the Bloody Mary cart but shortly after takeoff ( we weren't very far north of the GG bridge) Captain announces FA's to be seated as we were up for about 45min of moderate chop (even though clear out). About 30 mins in general FA PA that they would swap main cabin service and serve lunch then bev run- though this was proactive as holding the entrees in Y longer would have made a not great meal into a really bad one

amuse bouche served with second bloody mary
tray setup fine, prawn app was excellent but would have been better with 3 than 2
garlic bread - same as everyone else here. Why bother serving it.
skipped salad
Turbot with risotto with mushroooms and fava beans was far then expected. Fish appeared and tasted very fresh and cooked just right. As before, could have been a tad hotter. I have celiac (gluten issue) but I'm not OCD about it. This dish was a good choice
Passed desert and went for cheese with port. It was fine for me as I didn't eat the crackers.

I was watching the AVOD and had purchased the wifi for $20. Certainly worth it and worked well enough for me to document my trip online and access all the regular sites I go to for reading everyday. However apparently the UA PD streaming service crashed. Someone must have contacted GS/1K as I recieved an email inflight apologizing about this and offered me 6500 miles or $125 travel cert which I grabbed. I had pieced out an around the world for 235K miles and $149 in taxes all in F or C so worked out well (I have no status). Very unexpected; I imagine they based the compensation based on class? Didn't expect this on an award ticket, again no status.

Second meal I went with the Asian noodle soup with Korean beef brisket. This was very very good. A hefty portion of beef, amazing flavor and super tender. Only drawback was only one hot pepper.

Didn't use bed, mattress/gel pillow

only major complaint is the F cabin was way too dark. Zero lighting that I walked heal to toe to lav as I couldnt see a thing.

I'm taking the same flight later this month. Really looking forward to the mimosa/Bloody Mary cart. Haven't seen many comments here about it; any others on this route seen it?
