I expect the merger of the programs to occur in steps. Dealing with the large numbers of hotels and changing benefits will be time consuming. Which I could easily see taking a long time.

But I will almost be surprised if we do not see the earning of status being merged together between the programs before everything is complete. Making it so that the requirements are the same for both programs and that stays count towards that combined status no matter which side it is on.
