I had one TA confirmed booking on a flight and for a variety of reasons had to cancel that ticket and get BA to create a new reservation for me on the same flight. BA wasn't able to make the second booking as the TA had not cancelled the ticket properly and BA's systems rejected the second reservation as a duplicate.

The system must exist. I just don't know how reliable it is...
