Thanks everyone for the response. Everything was on one AA Milesaver ticket. LATAM ended up booking me a LATAM flight to Miami, and I ended up arriving in Chicago an hour after I was originally scheduled to. However, I lost my intentional 10 hour "layover" in New York, and believe it or not, but my partner actually booked a separate ticket from Chicago to New York to come surprise and propose to me........................
Obviously he had to forfeit his flight, and instead of having a day in New York (My flight was supposed to land at 9 am and then depart at 7 pm), I ended up being stuck in an airport/airplane for literally 24 hours. Worst of all, the engagement of my dream (on top of the Rock in New York) was ruined, and ofcourse the surprise was ruined. :'( :'(
Is there any grounds for some goodwill compensation for this? In a wishful world, it would be nice for AA to give me a voucher, so we can redo this proposal in New York (although the element of surprise is now gone). However, this is not a wishful world. What do you guys think?
