The Apex suites are not that space efficient, on a 787-8 between doors 1 and 2,BA has 21 business seat JAL has 18. Between doors 2 and 3 on the 77W BA has 56 seats and JAL has 42. (all with the caveat for galley and lavatory locations influencing as well). So it could seem quite a seat loss to go for something similar.
Is that because CW is one more seat across (2-3-2 vs. 2-2-2 on a Dreamliner, 2-4-2 vs. 2-3-2 on a 777)? Or because the Apex suite is less efficient in length? Because if we're getting aisle access it is going to mean a reduced number of seats and 6/7 across instead of AA's 4 across would help.
