Are you based in IST? If so, TK has a direct flight to Kigali. From there, Volcanoes N.P. is about a 2 hour drive, where the Gorilla tracking takes place. You'll probably need no more than 2 days of Gorilla tracking, so it's definitely doable (especially since the TK flight gets you into KGL at around midnight, so you can go straight to the lodge and gorillas later that morning if you and your wife are hearty travellers.)

FYI - in Rwanda, Gorilla permits have just been increased from $750 per person / per day to a whopping $1500. I don't anticipate it going down, either, so if you're wanting to do it on a budget, your only option would be to visit Bwindi I.F. in Uganda, which offers permits for less than half the amount that Rwanda requires.

For now I have 3 nights with the wife leaving our kid at home, so Boulders or Ebony seems like the sensible choice.

I am dying to try Botswana, Zambia and gorilla trekking but need another 3-4 years so our kid can be a bit older to stay at home.
