I think all safari lodges are seasonal - in terms of wildlife movement and climate. In general safaris are probably best undertaken in June/July, right across Southern Africa, but that is also the time of the coldest weather, especially at night (I caught bronchitis in Zambia a few years back). In the European/North American winter months, the climate is hot and humid in Southern Africa with heavy rainfall. This makes the landscape greener and prettier but it also makes the grass grow, thus hiding many animals from view. The green season is arguably the best for bird-spotting.
However, it does seem that plunge pools, silver service and vintage wine are the priorities of many people here. Not me!
