I really don't think that you will be able to see Patong at all from the property as the orientation is that the beach faces the headland on the other side of the bay. Quite a few years ago we stayed at the Amari hotel which is closer to Patong on the same headland as the Rosewood and you couldn't see or hear Patong from there - obviously Patong has grown since then but I still don't think you will see the skyline.

Tcmb99 - I know what you mean about Phuket - it really is overdeveloped but once you are inside your hotel it does not affect you. It does mean that you have access to restaurants and shopping outside the hotel. Not a lot of culture like Bali has - there's one big temple we've been to in the south of the island and there are still a couple of Sea Gypsy communities - houses on stilts over the sea etc.
