Depending on the route, £800 WTP to CW isn't necessarily high.

Meanwhile down on planet earth: what I know is that this an area that BA will keep incredibly close to its corporate chest. This, and a range of related matters has never leaked out, to the best of my knowledge. There isn't one good reason why this information should be in the public domain. It probably isn't even a simple figure: sometimes they really do want you to shift out of WTP, though it's nice that you pay for it (as opposed to being involuntarily upgraded). If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say after 3 attempts per annum, your card is getting well marked. But that guess is near meaningless without context. And in aviation, context is everything.
It's also true that the cheapest AUP is more expensive than the cheapest CW ticket available, though that depends on you getting the right ticket at the right time.
