This isn't entirely altruistic by BA is it? I understand elite membership numbers both GGL and Gold are tumbling, this helps to keep those volumes up and prevent embarrassing questions about just why top tier status volumes are falling in this way.

This seems to be at odds with everything else which has been posted on here. Even for many of those who prefer not to fly BA it seems BAEC is one of the more favoured OW schemes.
