Some Albertans like to think they're special and unique in comparison to the rest of the country. Call-to-gate is a complete disaster. And not to mention it is pretty worthless for connecting passengers, which there are a lot of. I did a YVR-YYC-AMS (to fly KLM's 787) and I don't think I would ever do a domestic>intl connection again, all else being equal. This will be a big challenge for WestJet since they want to make YYC an international hub, and they have Dreamliners coming. It's not like YYC international has any spectacular lounges.. so the fact that there's not even gate space is kind of a mess. Boarding was a gongshow.
