Upgrades ... well, if available at the gate then 'yes' ... but no way to link the reservations to increase the priority like it would be when you are on the same reservation.

Oh, gosh. I overlooked such an easy solution! I will see if pricing works for both os us on that. She will be on a multi-city ticket, so we will see if fare same if break it into two pieces. Thanks!
