The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo turned out to be a truly fantastic stay, and I would rate it among the best we’ve tried so far in the city (in our minds, tied with Mandarin Oriental, better than Park Hyatt and Andaz). The location in Roppongi is perfect for exploring western parts of Tokyo, and direct metro access proved to be very convenient.

Check-in was handled in the club lounge as we booked a club level room, and service all-around was exemplary. I would highly recommend booking a club level room here, as it provides 5 food presentations a day (morning breakfast, lunch snacks, afternoon tea service, evening hors d'oeuvres, and after-dinner sweets) and your personal concierge team. If you enjoy alcoholic beverages at all, this will be worth it as you essentially have all-you-can drink champagne and cocktails. Also, afternoon tea downstairs is normally $80, but you get essentially the same thing in the club lounge included except with the addition of free flowing champagne. Beer/juices/bottled waters are all available to grab at any time, which was convenient in case you wanted to stop in before heading back to your room. Views from the club lounge were also very nice, and on clear days you can see Mount Fuji while enjoying your time there. Another big plus for us is that the lounge is non-smoking, unlike most bars in Japan.

The breakfast at Towers was nice, providing a cooked egg dish along with the buffet. Overall, we preferred breakfast at Towers over the one provided in the Club Lounge as it had more options in terms of fruits/pastries. The selection is still slightly better at the Mandarin Oriental, however, but in terms of quality, everything is still very good.

For our room, we were upgraded from the Club Deluxe room (standard room with club access) to the Millenia suite. This room upgrade happened on the second night, as it was unavailable on our first night there, and it was offered automatically (we didn’t have to ask about it). While the base room was very large and had plenty of space, the suite was truly incredible in terms of the views it offered. Regular rooms have a single window, but the suite is a corner room, which has wraparound windows that extend through from the bathroom, bedroom, and living room. It had the best views of any Tokyo hotel room that I’ve stayed at. I would actually consider paying the regular rate for it, as it was truly special.

The $100 property credit can go toward most any purchase (in-room dining, restaurants, bar, etc.), and we used it toward a spa treatment. My wife says she enjoyed her time there, but as in most hotel spas in Japan, the price was quite high. Wifi was free and fast, and checkout was quick and efficient (handled during breakfast in the club lounge). Also, as we were visiting during off-peak season, we never had to wait for anything. Lastly, if you are looking to book restaurant reservations, the concierge team here is very responsive and helpful. Just be sure to email them at least a month in advance if you're looking for spots in high-demand shops.

Overall, the service, rooms, and experience here were some of the best we’ve experienced in Tokyo. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return.
