I booked 2 F awards tickets from LAX to ICN this coming September 2017 with points that are set to expire in July 2017. I am now pregnant and cannot travel per doctor's orders. I do not want to pay the fee to extend the expiration of 174,000 points for 6 months, so cancelling the booking and redepositing the points is not an option.

My thought was to change the booking into into tickets to Hawaii on United for some time in 2018. However, I'm wondering if I need to make any changes to this booking prior to points expiration in July or I can wait until August before making changes to the booking? I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere. The reason I'd like to wait until August is because I want to book the tickets to Hawaii as far into 2018 as possible. Any experience with how people have dealt with points expiration on Krisflyer would be appreciated!
