I always feel sorry for the French - they don't make any luxury cars, not since the amazing Facel Vega which went bust decades ago. De Gaulle never had a Facel because they used American engines. Facels were works of art, the Paganis of their era. Seeing the French President driving around in a Citroen or some German car is a bit humiliating, I think.
The Brits have Rolls, Bentley (both German owned) and Jags (Indian owned) so that's OK.
But Maserati - ahhhh, that's sheer style. I love them. Even owned one once.
I remember Amanpuri once picked me up in a Volvo. I wasn't impressed. But Amansara has that fabulous 1960s Merc.
Amanpuri and Amankila don't have particularly special cars do they? Short ride (which can be long - thanks traffic) in Manila, but I don't recall Amanpulo's ride being impressive either.
The classic Merc at Amansara was incredible.
