I managed to get an excellent deal from Venice via Paris to Tokyo last summer: €430 return in Y. JAL 787 with the proper 2-4-2 seating and bags of legroom. IIRC it was 40TP each way plus some number of Avios. I can't remember what the cost of J was but I remember it wasn't ridiculous.
