Not logical to me at all.
The DUS-DXB upgrade was offered at OLCI. This is not offered to everyone. If you take advantage, the chances are you won't be offered it next time.
For the DXB-DUS, you asked at check-in and on-board. They'd already probably offered a number of cheaper upgrades at OLCI - but you didn't get offered this time.
