What would be legal situation of getting married in US and UK?

Question then: If you get 'married' in the US, what would be the legal situation in the UK. Would you need to get married again at a registrars office? What happens to 'straight' couples that get married abroad?

BTW, if anyone got The Times (London) yesterday, see page 11. The chaps that run the Oxford and Beaconlight in P'Town were featured on a half page spread (we know them so it was quite a shock to see them splattered all over the papers! ^ )
