First, I cancelled one in Nov to avoid the annual fees, putting me down to 2 AeroBiz cards.

In a few weeks, another one will post the annual fee so I picked up the phone and asked for it to be cancelled. Rep puts me on hold, punches a few things into her "system", comes back and asks if I'll consider keeping the card open if she applies a $180 credit to my account, to offset the upcoming annual fee. Hmm, Ok, well there's no other current promo for this card with FYF, so I figured I'd take it and extend it's life for another year, thus adding to my credit history. Meanwhile, it gives me another Aero Visa card to use for paying my Aero scamcharges for the flight/baggage coverage, as I 'only' have one TD Aero Visa (my 8th TD card since 2014) remaining, which will 'expire' in March.

Of interest, during the call she mentioned/asked a couple of other things.

1. "JJJ, you have another CIBC AeroBiz card, is that right?" Errr...YES, is there an issue? "No, just wanted to verify."

2. "JJJ, you are a valued client, so we can extend this $180 credit offer to you." GREAT.
Meanwhile, one of the call's initial ID'ing questions asked me for the amount of my last statement payment...I had to dig it out, as it was 10 months ago that I had last used the card. Which makes me wonder, why is it that I'm a valued client?
My second CIBC Aerogold Business card came up for renewal. This card was compromised in Feb, a couple of months before the anniversary. So it was a surprise to me to see a statement generate, because I hadn't used it for over 8-9 months. After they sent me the replacement card, I still haven't used it. Anyways, I mention this, in case anyone is wondering if I'm a big spender with the card. Clearly, I am NOT.

So I called up CIBC, and this time not not only did they reverse the $180 annual fee, they gave me some Aeroplan points, just to retain me as a cardholder.

I know, 10K is not much of a big deal these days with the AP/AC imminent breakup and declining AeroPeso, but like pennies, they all add up!
