Durbin and the ACA were the worst regulations to come out of Washington during the Obama era. These two policies impact the middle class too much.
I don't see the need to cap debit interchange fees so other billion dollar companies can save money. Business are going to whine no matter what about card fees, even if they're $0.01 per transaction. Who was Durbin kidding when he said merchants would actually pass those savings back to consumers? Apparently the guy was born yesterday. Now we have big banks with no debit card rewards, most have gotten rid of free checking, and even the smaller banks disagree with Durbin for various reasons. He's really just another guy that needs to be kicked out of Washington.
I understand small businesses need a break, but they typically run card over the Visa/MC network anyways, negating the Durbin Amendment from their business cash flows.
