Oh, I'm not suggesting anything sneaky was done. And in fact the total rental price is quite good imo, coming in at $20 per day. Not complaining about that. Hertz was great and so was the car.
I'm just pointing out that the hard product (the car) was less than 50% of the price I ultimately paid. The bulk of what I paid for was extraneous things. To me, that shows taxation on car rentals are getting out of hand.
