It's best to assume that the tablet is damaged, since they are most certainly not waterproof. Insist that the hotel reimburse you for a new table and wallet. The main point of that isn't just to make you whole but to fix the problem and be more vigilant in the future. I see more electrical, plumbing and other mechanical issues in hotels today - even new builds - than I saw 20 years ago when I was living in hotel 4 nights a week.
