I did the one in Carlsbad, CA and the only problem I had was the gift card was only loaded with $50, instead of $100. I was staying in San Clemente at the time and made another trip to get it corrected. Otherwise, the points posted promptly and no issue with the "night on us" which I used at a decent Wyndham Dallas hotel.
Remember, if you're not really interested in the timeshare purchase, just say no and they will move you along quicker to the two separate "closer" level associates. Again a firm no will get this done as quickly as possible. Helps you and the salesperson, as they can get on with another person. It really isn't a great deal anyway, as their points are worth little, definitely not as much as they want to charge for them.
