Just an FYI.

I found a BR award itinerary on United.com that I really wanted, but it kept returning error from the payment screen. 1K desk was not able to book it either.

Persistence paid off, as when I returned a couple hours later it was still showing available. I tried again and this time it ticketed.

Could just be coincidence, but might be worthwhile to keep trying if you encounter the above.
