My niece had a ticket from PITTSBURGH (PIT) - NEWARK (EWR) - MUMBAI (BOM) - KOLKATA (CCU). The original booking was for July 2004. She pre-poned it to May 2004. As per Air India, all changes in flights etc. require re-issue of tickets. The ticket was sent to AI-NYC. However AI-NYC issued only the PIT - EWR - BOM only instead of
PIT - EWR - BOM - CCU.

No amount of protestation helped. In the circumstances the PAX had to buy another ticket BOM-CCU?

The questions are:
1. Can Air India do this?
2. What compensation can be claimed against Air India?
3. How to get reimbursements for BOM-CCU ticket?

Any help would be much appreciated.
