for simplicity get a 7 day card each. If only to stop worrying about how much you have left if you get a pay per ride one.
Also gives you the flexibility of just jumping on a bus / subway if you change your plans again with out worring about the cost.

You'll not have to think about transit again your whole trip. That's worth something. And you won't get caught in lines at stations trying to charge up your card if you run out of money on it.
