I'm curious about this, because the movies usually work even when the satellite reception isn't working, so I assume they don't depend on the actual reception, but are from an internal source. Does anyone know if this is the case? And if so, do they show the movies when over water?

Also, why are they not allowed to show DirecTV over water? Is it a contractual thing, because I don't thing the satellites would suddenly become non-responsive.
