Yes, some Hilton properties really try to make you feel valued when anything goes wrong. I once stayed in a HGI in the Phoenix area during the summer. For some reason, the desk clerk gave me the wrong room number (the key didn't work there). I had to go back down and she apologized and gave me a free dinner in the restaurant. The next morning, I discovered that my coffee maker didn't work. They asked me if I didn't mind coming downstairs to get a cup of coffee. Well, guess what, they had a $15 Starbucks card in addition to a cup of coffee waiting for me (they apologized that they would have brought it to me but they were just changing shifts and didn't want to make me wait 15 minutes).
I've stayed at full-service, 1500 room Hiltons who have made these types of errors and only got a half-hearted apology with nothing else offered.
