Well my usual mantra to Americans is that the middle east is far safer than LA county. And to me Egypt caters heavily to tourists and works hard to make the country secure, but it's hard to beat hardened opinions. On the other hand, it's a trip of a lifetime for people who are into history. As for the heat, as we say in the equally hot southern California, It's a dry heat.

But if you are from a cooler place it would be too oppressive I guess.
