For delayed flights, they should hand out those buzzers that you sometimes get at restaurants to let you know when your table is ready. That way you could wander around knowing you'll be buzzed once they are ready to board.
Or better still, just have the AA App push out a text message/alert with boarding status updates ('boarding commenced', 'final call', etc.) for any flight in your reservations list on the day of departure @:-)
