In January I booked travel for my wife with points FC, RT, MCO-OGG to travel with me on my paid FC ticket. At booking was told by diamond desk I had to buy OGG-HNL leg for wife because you cannot have a miles ticket originating on a non-Delta partner (news to me, but ok). I paid for FC for wife for this leg. Attempted to check in today but could not check in on line. After 2 diamond phone call disconnects, agent advised me to check in on Hawaiian web for OGG -HNL leg then try to check in on DL. Success for me but wife's Hawaiian Air boarding pass comes up as regular coach but I could improve her seat for a fee. I explained I paid first and agent acknowledges but says the diamond agent that booked ticket used Delta codes not Hawaiian codes for first class. FC sold out. They admit it was their mistake but they can do nothing, not even refund me the difference between coach and FC. Bad enough, but 2nd time in a year Delta has dumped my wife. All apologies all the time by agents but no resolution, ever! Would be nice if one of the Delta, employees could offer advice.
