Not just the declaration, the VAT differential was part of the shipment process. Which is of course negative when mailing from DE to CH, so I reckon they don't suffer much from it.
..by the way, in the end, for my damaged suitcase (EUR 350 retail price, 2 years) they offered me either EUR 122 compensation from LX or selling me the Samsonite Lite-Shock which I wanted for EUR 85. Did I make the right decision in buying from them? EUR 122 seems a little low for the residual value, or maybe they were just BS-ing me just to get me to buy from them. In any case, I think it's ok to buy the Samsonite for EUR 85 as its an upgrade over my old suitcase, but just wondering if you guys with more experience think i made the right move...
I was always offered abysmal comps even if I found the receipt. And many brands they do not accept ... pretty much anything but Rimowa and Samsonite that is. So paying up to "all new" is definitely worth it.
