I have LAX-HNL on 772 later this year and I booked the award Y ticket with Avios. I replaced my BA FF# with AA FF# and now the ticket is showing in my AA account and I was able to pick a better seat.
It's AA coded and operated flight on BA stock.
Today is 5/20 and my reservation now says complimentary upgrade requested ^
