For the JFK-LAX segment, all AA flights will offer lie-flat seats in First & Business.
For the LAX-HNL/OGG segment, you need to make sure you're on a 767 or 777 aircraft. Most LAX-Hawaii flights are operated by 321's that have normal domestic first class seats (not lie-flat). The Hawaii schedules seem to change often and can vary depending on the season, but I believe AA scheduled one 777/767 LAX-HNL flight at some point over the next year.
