Just go up to the garage and take the moving walkways over to A... its only about 5 min.
I believe you can re-check at E. But, I've never done it. I did do a 1 hour-ish connection LHR-BOS (VS) to C Terminal BOS-FLL (B6) a few months ago with Global Entry and carry on bags, it was not an issue. I fly to Boston all the time, but all of us have Global Entry. Lines can vary a lot at Boston-Logan; but if mobile passport I have to assume it will be rather fast. With any luck, you'll have TSA-Precheck on your boarding pass ex-BOS from Terminal A, which should save you some time.
